Posture analysis is very important when creating an effective exercise program. We all have basically different body types. A correct postural analysis helps the trainer to create an exercise program. For example, if you have a tight hip flexor, it is much more sensible to run the muscle group in this area and work to stretch the muscles instead of causing more tension and discomfort.

Who can do posture analysis?
Generally Posture Analysis is performed by specially trained osteopaths, physiotherapists and pilates instructors. However, it should not be forgotten that not all pilates instructors are experts in this field.

What is the correct posture?
Posture is the position where a person is holding his body while standing, sitting or lying down. In other words, it is stance. The body works best when it is in the optimal position. When the body is in the correct postural alignment, it distributes the weight evenly and appropriately, allowing the muscles, joints and spine to work together in harmony and effortlessly. If something is incompatible, injury and pain may occur.

What is Posture Analysis?
In posture analysis, you should look at your static posture to see if there is any imbalance that may or may not cause pain and discomfort. Check how well your muscles and joints work together and check for any imbalances that can be corrected. It is explored how your body moves. It aims to guide treatment or exercise programs by taking into consideration the underlying causes of the imbalances and the prevention of abnormalities.

Analysis and Evaluation How?
During an analysis and evaluation, the whole body is generally looked at from different angles. Generally, anterior , posterior  and lateral  are observed in three aspects. In the evaluation, it is very important to interpret these 3 angles together with an expert eye. Because any imbalance found in the body may cause problems in other limbs, and may also be caused by a problem in a difficult to observe area. For example, if the head position is in the front, the person usually breaks the knees forwards in order to maintain the body balance, or the cause of an imbalance at the shoulder level can be caused by a curvature in the spine.

Analysis can be done with naked eye, plumb, posture boards, symmetry, special rulers, wooden blocks of different heights, tape measure, special items for marking leather areas, cameras, reference range images fixed to the wall, developed special software and medical imaging devices such as medical imaging devices, equipment is also used.

The important point here is to be able to follow the correct diagnosis and evaluation as well as the development of the person during the treatment or exercise program. Therefore, it should be paid attention when selecting methods and materials.

Anterior Posture Analysis
The analysis is made by the patient standing in a position where he feels comfortable with bare feet and appropriate clothing. When a healthy image is taken from the front, the following conditions are checked.

  • Does the bass slide to the left or right?
  • Are the shoulders equal?
  • Is Karin shifting right or left?
  • Does the waist slide right or left?
  • Are the arms equal length, equal to the cubital angle values?
  • Are both sides of the hip equal?
  • Do knees show an inward or outward shift?
  • Feet normal opening?

Posterior Posture Analysis
The following conditions are checked when a healthy image is taken from the rear side in the same comfortable posture.

  • Does the bass slide to the left or right?
  • Is the spine neutral? So you see a curvature?
  • Are the shoulders equal?
  • Are both sides of the hip equal?
  • Do knees show an inward or outward shift?
  • Feet normal opening?
  • Does the Achill tendon have an inward or outward shift?
  • Feet normal opening?

Lateral Posture Analysis 
When a healthy image is taken from the side in the same comfortable posture, it is checked whether the points below form a line in the same plane.

  • Earlobe
  • The center of the shoulder protrusion
  • Hip (protrusion at the point where the thigh meets the hip)
  • Just behind the knee cap
  • 3 cm to 3.5 cm front of the ankle
    The fact that this line is smooth at the lateral level indicates that the muscle balance is in place and there is no difficulty in joints and ligaments.

Some postural disorders that can be detected by analysis
Lordoz, Kyphosis, Kifo-lordosis, Scoliosis, Anterior pelvic tilt (increase of inclination pain), Posterior pelvic tilt (reduction of inclination pain), Genu recurvatum (hyperextension in the knee joint), Pes cavus, Pes planus, Pes cavus, Right or left flexion of the head / rotation, Shoulder height different / round shoulder, Cramped chest, barrel chest, pectus excavatum, pectus carinatum, Harrison groove, Inequality in waist levels, Tibial torsion in the knees, genuvarum (O leg), genuvalgum (X leg)

In short, everyone can say. With posture analysis, you can learn how your body adapts to your lifestyle. We all develop bad habits over time. For example, by sitting at a desk all day, keeping babies in your buttocks or not doing stretching movements before and after exercise, we create weaknesses and changes in our movements. An assessment will show you these things and tell you how to change them. Those with recurrent pain or low physical performance will benefit greatly from postural evaluation. Awareness is the first step in understanding and correcting underlying problems.
In addition, posture analysis is particularly important in early diagnosis and prevention of some disorders that may be impossible to treat and correct in older children.
